En el bicentenario de Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda: legados de creación femenina

El Bicentenario de Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, feminista avant la lettre, escritora nómada (no en balde firmaba como La Peregrina) y autora genial que cultivó con éxito la poesía, el teatro, la narrativa y el ensayo, es un magnífico pretexto para reunir en La Habana a quienes estudian la literatura de las mujeres en España y América, espacios geográficos enlazados no sólo por la lengua y la cultura, sino por numerosas rutas de ida y vuelta, como la propia vida de Avellaneda.
Su legado va más allá del compromiso con la escritura y a él se dedicará al menos una de las sesiones del congreso, que explorará además temas varios sobre la escritura femenina en lengua española, en cualquier contexto histórico y/o geográfico, así como otros temas de interés para la teoría y la práctica crítica y feminista.
Las propuestas podrán abordar los siguientes temas:
•La obra de Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda.
•Estrategias, opciones estilísticas y diálogos con la tradición y la historia.
•Géneros preteridos, géneros preferidos: constantes y disonancias en la escritura femenina.
•La mujer y el imperio, acercamientos literarios
•Palabras de ida y vuelta: migraciones, retornos, visiones trasatlánticas
•La teoría feminista en el ámbito hispánico
•Mujeres y creación artística
•Mujeres y periodismo
•El feminismo y los estudios culturales
•La cultura material femenina y sus representaciones
•Relaciones entre feminismo e hispanismo
•Construcciones lingüísticas de la identidad feminista hispana
•Las nuevas tecnologías y la producción literaria/cultural
•Postulación de sexualidades e identidades como retos a la norma cultural
•Heterodoxia, herejía e hispanismo
•El cuerpo en las palabras
•Feminismos transatlánticos
•Los estudios de género: legado y futuro
•Re-imaginar masculinidades y feminidades
•El arte feminista: revaluaciones, evaluaciones, devaluaciones
•Estudios interdisciplinarios de mujer y género
•Feminismos globales y locales

Los títulos y resúmenes deberán enviarse a Zaida Capote Cruz (forza@cubarte.cult.cu), con copia a Barbara Riess (briess@allegheny.edu) antes del 30 de marzo de 2014, acompañados de un breve curriculum vitae de su autor/a. Solo se aceptarán propuestas individuales. Las ponencias, que no excederán las 10 cuartillas mecanografiadas a doble espacio, deberán remitirse antes del 1 de septiembre de 2014.
La cuota de inscripción (100.00 CUC, ESTUDIANTES 50.00 CUC) deberá ser abonada en el Instituto de Literatura y Lingüística el 3 de noviembre de 2014, a partir de las 8:30 a.m. Quienes residen en Cuba pagarán la cuota correspondiente en CUP.

The UVa Arts & Sciences Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese invites applicants for a tenured position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor of Spanish. The appointment begins August 25, 2014. Field of specialization is 20th and 21st -century Latin American Literature and Culture, subfield of specialization open. Outstanding scholarship with a superior record of scholarly publications, evidence of excellent teaching, and commitment to interdisciplinary work are required. The successful candidate must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and must hold a Ph.D. in the relevant field. We are looking for a colleague who will participate actively and fully in both the undergraduate and graduate programs in the department.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) will be continuing its cluster search in digital humanities during 2013/14 to further propel its signature program. We seek to
hire two tenure-track faculty--one at the rank of assistant professor and the other as a late assistant or an associate professor. Field of expertise is open within the
humanities. Preference will be given to candidates engaged in the building of digital projects, archives, editions, models, tools, and other creative scholarly works in the
digital medium. Initial interviews will be conducted via Skype. Candidates should be accomplished digital humanists able to contribute to a thriving interdisciplinary
initiative and to a home department. Candidates must provide evidence of successful teaching and an active research agenda. PhD required by August 2014. The

Position Announcement: Director of Mexican-American Studies, Tenure Track Faculty

Texas Lutheran University invites applications for Director of Mexican-American Studies to begin August 2014. This position is for a tenure track faculty member who will be appointed to an academic department consistent with his or her major area of expertise. This position will:
•Direct the Mexican-American Studies program.
•Work with faculty and departments to develop and maintain courses inclusive of Mexican-American culture, arts, history, and scholarship throughout the TLU curriculum.
•Teach 3 courses one semester and 4 courses the other semester.
•Work closely and cultivate partnerships with the Mexican-American Student Association, the Mexican-American Alumni and Friends Association, and the Mexican-American community in Seguin.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
•Ph.D. in Mexican-American Studies, or a focus on Mexican-American Studies within a different field. ABD with assurances of near-term completion may also be considered.
•Experience working with a wide demographic of students, specifically including Mexican-American and first generation students.
•Experience teaching classes that focus on Mexican-American culture, arts, history, and scholarship.
•Experience and/or knowledge about working collaboratively with faculty members to develop and support curriculum inclusive of Mexican-American culture, arts, history, and scholarship.
•Commitment to and experience with integrating service learning and other high impact practices into pedagogical practices.
•Commitment to attracting and developing students from traditionally under-represented groups.
•Affirmation of the mission of Texas Lutheran University, a nationally recognized university of the liberal arts, sciences, and professional studies in the Lutheran (ELCA) tradition.

Preference may be given to candidates who can teach some combination of the following courses:
•Introduction to Mexican-American Literature
•Chicano and U.S. Latino Literature
•Major Issues in Ethnic or Racial History
•Mexican-American Culture in the Southwest

Preference may also be given to those who can contribute expertise to interdisciplinary programs such as African-American Studies and Women’s Studies.

Appointment will be to a rank commensurate with the experience of the candidate. Salary is competitive; benefits are excellent. 10th Biennial Associated Colleges of the South Women's & Gender Studies Conference

We write to invite you to visit our conference blog athttp://blogs.furman.edu/bhati/ and to consider participating in the10th Biennial Associated Colleges of the South Women's & Gender Studies Conference to be hosted by Furman University in Greenville, SC on April 4th and 5th, 2014. The theme for the conference is "Intersections and Assemblages: Genders and Sexualities Across Cultures."

Our conference blog includes the Call for Papers, and some other pages for conference registration, information about the conference (with links to information about the city of Greenville), and a Discussion page where we hope to discuss with students and colleagues useful terms, readings, links to commentary on events related to gender and sexuality in the world.
