MLA 2015: ROUNDTABLE: Elena Poniatowska: Five Decades of Critical Inquiry

Elena Poniatowska’s corpus has inspired three generations of scholars to engage in highly diverse approaches to literary theory and criticism, including approaches to testimonio, journalism, the specificity of writing by women, and the ethical imperative in literature. This roundtable will trace key moments in the trajectory of critical discourse on her work in order to examine how it tracks established trends in literary studies and how it introduces new questions into literary debates in the U.S. and Mexico since the 1960s. 250-word abstract and brief bio. by March 15 to Beth E. Jörgensen. beth.jorgensen@rochester.edu
