IV. Call for contributions
The Garden of Earthly Delights:
Essays on the Work of Marosa di Giorgio.

Uruguayan writer Marosa di Giorgio is one of the most outstanding voices in contemporary literature (Uruguay, 1932-2004). In the last decades, her work has attracted a significant amount of scholarly attention in countries other than Uruguay, such as Argentina, Spain, the UK and the USA. Several translations into English have been commissioned in order to respond to the increasing global interest in her writing. Despite such growing popularity and burgeoning academic research, there is not yet a critical book devoted to her work that will gather together in one volume the most relevant key critical accounts of her œuvre. The edited collection The Garden of Earthly Delights: Essays on the Work of Marosa di Giorgio will be the first book ever to do so.

The title’s reference to the famous painting by Hieronymus Bosch directs the semantic space of the book towards the realm of gender explorations, the rhetoric of eroticism and sexuality in a marvellous and awe-inspiring key, but also refers to its interdisciplinary and comparative approach. The goal of this anthology is to discuss di Giorgio’s work from unexplored perspectives and to facilitate stimulating comparisons across texts and disciplines that have emerged from different but related cultural, historical and geographical contexts that intertwine with di Giorgio’s own imagery.

Contributors are invited to submit unpublished articles of 7000 words (maximum) written in English (UK). Papers should include: paper’s title, author’s name, institutional affiliation (if any), e-mail address and a brief bio.

Deadline for receipt of papers: 30th June, 2013.
Editors’ review and selection process: 1st July – 1st August, 2013.
Revision of papers by contributors: 2nd August – 31st October, 2013.
Expected date of release: April, 2014.
Contributors should follow Cambridge Scholars Publishing’s key formatting issues available at http://www.c-s-p.org/submission_guidelines.htm.
The editors welcome discussion of initial ideas for articles via e-mail (please send queries to both of the editors): Natalia Font: nf233@exeter.ac.uk and María Soledad Montañez: maria.montanez@stir.ac.uk. Please email your papers to the above addresses with the subject “MDG: and add the title of your article” by 30th June 2013.

Recuerden enviarme sus comunicaciones de interés antes del 1 o 15 de cada mes.
Cordialmente,
