 Querida membresía,

¡Por fin hemos llegado a fin de curso! Este mes me han llegado pocos mensajes para difundir. Sin embargo, entre ellos encontrarán unos muy significativos. Ya que se nos acerca el mes de enero, no se olviden de que la cuota anual de la membresía vence el 1 de enero del año en curso. La fecha límite para el pago la cuota es el 15 de marzo. Los pagos de la cuota de membresía después de esta fecha incurren en un aumento de 12 dólares. Se ruega a los miembros de la AILCFH que cumplan el pago de la cuota anual a principios del año para asegurarse que reciben los dos números de la revista de la AILCFH Letras Femeninas. Me dirijo a ustedes porque para el próximo congreso de la Asociación me gustaría organizar una o varias mesas sobre “El legado de Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda en la crítica literaria producida desde Cuba en las últimas décadas: Luisa Campuzano, Nara Araújo, Mirta Yáñez, entre otras”. Dichas mesas podrían tener participantes que disertaran sobre la crítica producida por mujeres desde Cuba sobre la obra de Avellaneda, así como también sobre la influencia de Avellaneda en las obras de crítica literaria y cultural producida por estudiosas en Cuba.

Symposium
Critical Feminist Thought and the African Diaspora
Friday February 28, 2014
Amherst Room - Campus Center, UMass Amherst, MA

This symposium will concentrate on critical feminist thought and the African diaspora. Presentations will highlight scholarship, activism, interdisciplinary perspectives, transnational and translocal processes, and different sites of knowledge production. The symposium will also provide a space to engage historical and contemporary debates and contributions.

Keynote speaker: Professor Dorothy Roberts, University of Pennsylvania

Dorothy E. Roberts, J.D., is George A. Weiss University Professor of Law & Sociology, Raymond Pace & Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander Professor of Civil Rights, and Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She is an acclaimed scholar of race, gender and the law, and her work in law and public policy focuses on urgent contemporary issues in health, social justice, and bioethics, especially as they impact the lives of women, children and African-Americans.

Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure track, to begin Fall 2014

The Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Department (http://www.umass.edu/wost) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks to hire an Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise broadly on environmental/ food justice or sustainability including those focusing on climate change, reproduction, or migration. The University of Massachusetts and the Western Massachusetts region have been national leaders in developing research and activist resources in sustainability, food justice, and environmental justice. Qualifications: PhD required by 9/2014 in field of or related to natural, social sciences or humanities, or interdisciplinary work. Ability to teach core Women’s Studies courses; teaching experience required. Annual teaching load: two courses per semester. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Application should include a letter of application, curriculum vita, a syllabus or course outline for a course on “Feminism and Environmental Justice” as well as other relevant syllabi and course descriptions, two article-length writing samples, and three letters of recommendation.
