| Circular 2.1. febrero 2010 AILCFH Queridas y queridos colegas, Os recuerdo, una vez más, que la membresía de la AILCFH venció el primero de enero. Para poder agilizar el proceso de actualización de datos, así como para aseguraros la recepción de los dos ejemplares anuales de la revista, os recuerdo que el plazo para renovar la membresía, sin incurrir en la penalización de $10, se vence el 15 de marzo. Así pues os animo a renovarla ahora mismo accediendo a la sección de pago de la membresía en nuestro sitio de la AILCFH (http://ailcfh.org). Como cada año, os pedimos que hagáis el pago por medio del sistema on-line usando una tarjeta de crédito en lugar de enviar un cheque a Marta Sierra. Este último método de pago ocasiona mucho más trabajo a la Tesorera. No os olvidéis que el plazo para enviar propuestas para el próximo congreso de la AILCFH vence el 1 de marzo del 2010. Podéis encontrar la descripción del tema del congreso y un formulario de envio on-line de propuesta en: http://20congreso.ailcfh.org Es importante tener presente, como también recordé en la pasada circular que el plazo de recepción de candidaturas, textos y manuscritos para los diversos premios Victoria Urbano se vence el 15 de abril. Os animamos a presentar trabajos y proponer nombres, como en el caso del Premio Victoria Urbano de Reconocimiento Académico. Un saludo, Elena Castro Secretaria AILCFH ANUNCIOS ----------------------------------------------- 1) Comunicado de Carmen de Urioste, editora de Letras Femeninas Convocatoria de contribuciones para el número especial de Letras Femeninas, verano del 2011 Dramaturgia, performance y producción teatral femenina contemporánea en los Estados Unidos, América Latina y España Entre los muchos temas de debate en circulación hoy día, sin duda, el que despierta mayor interés es el que atañe al impacto y las consecuencias del debate modernidad/posmodernidad en las diferentes áreas de producción cultural. Aunque los efectos del discurso posmoderno han sido evaluados en profundidad dentro de la narrativa, la poesía y la crítica literaria, poco se ha estudiado su relación con la dramaturgia, y aún menos, con la dramaturgia femenina. Para este volumen especial de Letras Femeninas, nuestra propuesta es investigar y analizar a través de la crítica de estudios culturales, postcoloniales y feministas, la producción teatral, la dramaturgia y el performance–o artes escénicas–de mujeres en América Latina, los Estados Unidos y España. Astrid Hadad y Jesusa Rodríguez (México, performance), Denise Stoklos (Brasil, performance), Coco Fusco y Ana Mendieta (Cuba-E.E.U.U., performance/artes visuales), Griselda Gambaro, Diana Raznovich y Susana Torres Molina (Argentina, dramaturgia), Denise Chávez (México-E.E.U.U, dramaturgia), Laila Ripol e Itzar Pascual (España, dramaturgia), son sólo algunas de las tantas mujeres, cuyas contribuciones al quehacer dramático y escénico han ampliado los márgenes de expresión social y cultural creando nuevos registros y formas de interpretar de la realidad. Solicitamos para este volumen de Letras Femeninas ensayos que examinen la producción teatral femenina contemporánea así como las múltiples técnicas de representación escénica y propuestas estéticas ya sea a través del arte o del performance. Nos interesan en particular enfoques interdisciplinarios e innovadores en cuanto a las políticas de género y/o de expresión artística y literaria. La versión final de los ensayos seleccionados deberá enviarse para el 1 de octubre, 2010 2) Comunicado de Dianna Niebylski Call for Papers for Edited Volume on Latin American and Latino Icons What can a face mean? How does it represent both a person and something more than itself –a nation, a political cause, a “race,” a global region? When and how does an image achieve a life of its own? How does it attract and channel strong emotions in those who contemplate it? The word “icon” refers to an object of devotion in the form of an immediately recognizable, easily reproducible image; the word’s history goes from ancient Greece through Byzantine Russia through modern computer screens. The image, often a figure or a face, gains signifying power and resonance even as it streamlines or reduces the person whom it originally represented. Many of Latin America’s greatest icons become associated with heightened forms of masculinity or of hyperbolic or hybrid forms of femininity, possibly a cause of their capacity to inspire passions and to take root in deep cultural identifications. The twentieth century extends the possibilities of disseminating and multiplying these images, perhaps especially in Latin America, a subcontinent with a long history of popular Catholicism and a high illiteracy rate at the beginning of the century. By the middle to the end of the century, many of these icons are disseminated into transnational and international circuits. This anthology seeks to examine Latin American icons in popular and literary culture, and to examine the process of “iconization”: how a face or figure becomes a destiny, usually revered, occasionally vilified, whether in and through art, propaganda, or popular culture. Some of these individual figures have already received ample attention, but there is more to say about them. We expect to represent a variety of cultural fields and examine a multiplicity of questions, including but not limited to the following: Religious Icons (e.g.., La Virgen de Guadalupe), Historical and Political Icons (Che Guevara, Pancho Villa, Emiliano Zapata, Eva Perón, Fidel Castro, Augusto Pinochet, Subcomandante Marcos, Hugo Chávez); Artistic Icons (Frida Kahlo; Borges, García Márquez –as cultural icons); Icons in Popular Culture (Shakira, Selena, Jennifer Lopez, Antonio Banderas, Gael García Bernal, Penelope Cruz); Recent and Contemporary Controversies (Elián González, Sonia Sotomayor); the Iconic Object (the scarves of the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo; the houses of Neruda). This is a call for participation by individuals from all disciplines and backgrounds interested in discussing their inter- and multi-disciplinary intellectual journeys in a panel or roundtable at the 2011 MLA (in Los Angeles, Jan. 6-9). The title of the panel is “Narrating Hybrid Scholarship / Mapping Innovation.” This panel will examine collaborations across disciplines and institutional boundaries that have led to concrete innovative results in academia and beyond. THE INSTIGATORS CECILE STEHRENBERGER is a PhD student at the University of Zurich, Switzerland and a member of the interdisciplinary Zurich Post-Graduate School Body, Technologies of the Self, Gender: Limits and Deliminations. In her dissertation project entitled Franco's dancers on tour: Folklore, gender and nation in a colonial encounter she analyzes the performances of the Coros y Danzas de la Sección Femenina de la Falange held during the 1950's in Equatorial Guinea. Her other research topics include medical diagnostics, robots and milk. She is interested in: gender studies, colonial studies, science studies, disability studies, performance studies and poststructuralism.
