| AILCFH, circular 12.1, diciembre 2010 Estimada membresía Os recuerdo que la membresía de la AILCFH se vence el primero de enero. Para poder agilizar el proceso de actualización de datos os ruego que, quienes no hayan pagado por más de un año su membresía, la renueve ahora mismo accediendo a la sección de pago de la membresía en nuestro sitio de la AILCFH (http://sites.la.utexas.edu/ailcfh/). Como cada año, os pedimos que hagáis el pago por medio del sistema on-line usando una tarjeta de crédito en lugar de enviar un cheque a Marta Sierra. Este último método de pago ocasiona mucho más trabajo a la Tesorera. La semana entrante, en un email separado, escribiré a las personas cuya membresía vence el 1 de enero del 2011. No os olvidéis que el plazo para enviar propuestas para el próximo congreso de la AILCFH a celebrarse en Barcelona en los dias 19,20 y 21 de octubre del 2011 se abre el 8 de enero y se finaliza el 1 de abril . We want to address the many challenges of understanding and responding to the complexly lived lives of queer subjects, as they are shaped by local and global upheavals and opportunities. What does the ‘transnational’ mean? How are queer lives rendered visible and legible and affectively accessible? What matrices of power make some queer figures more visible than others? What new forms of scholarship and activism emerge as people, images, ideas, and capital move in rapid, uneven, and complex ways across national borders? How might practices of kinships, however tense or contingent, happen? How does, or should, the transnational turn shape our pedagogies and curricula? And how do we connect and collaborate as scholars and activists across the globe? These are messy knowledges, nuanced knowledges, framed by the local and the global in complicated and often surprising ways. We are interested in a truly global conversation, and encourage submissions about and from all over the world. We hope too to produce some form of publication out of the conference. Possible topics: Representing the complexities of everyday queer lives Working with queer archives and memory Analyzing gay imperialism Designing pedagogies and curricula Sustaining scholarly relationships across borders Engaging with queer suffering and activism across borders Studying legal and political responses to queer suffering Queer media and literature Exploring queer diasporas and homonationalisms Writing queer histories Analyzing queer labor and immigration Responding to the challenges of translation and access We invite scholars and activists to submit paper proposals (no more than 500 words) or complete panels (of no more than three/four papers) that address questions like these from various perspectives. English is the primary language of the conference, and we will accept submissions in Spanish and French. PUESTOS DE TRABAJO 1) Lindenwood University, a medium-sized liberal arts university situated on a beautiful, historic campus in the St. Louis metropolitan area, invites applications for a full-time position in Spanish beginning August 2011. Seeking a strong Latin Americanist interested in teaching at all levels of a small but growing, vibrant Spanish program. Responsibilities: Teach all levels of Spanish language, literature and culture. Teach three courses per semester and one course during the January Term, plus supervise the Foreign Language Center. Serve as an advisor, contribute to departmental administration, and participate in extra-curricular activities with the Spanish Club. Some university service required as well. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Latin American Literature. Native or near-native fluency in English and Spanish. Demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish at the college level. Strong commitment to students and to further strengthening the Spanish program. We are seeking a specialist in 20th-/21st-Century Spanish American Literatures and Cultures, to teach at the Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. levels, as well as Spanish language courses. The candidate should possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish and be able to demonstrate excellence in and commitment to undergraduate teaching. Interest in a particular area or genre is a plus. The candidate must have Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2011, and must show an active interest in developing curricula that integrate literature, culture, and language in the program. Interest in the contemporary literary scene is a plus. This position is subject to availability of funding. 3) Assistant Professor of Spanish Colonial Spanish American Literary and Cultural Studies The Department of Spanish at Davidson College invites applications for a tenure track appointment in Spanish at the level of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Colonial Spanish American literary and cultural studies to begin August 2011. Candidates may also have secondary research interests in one or more of the following related fields: Caribbean Studies, Afro-Hispanic Literatures and Cultures, Postcolonial & Gender Theory, Transatlantic and Global Studies. Ph.D. in hand or near completion is preferred. Native/near native proficiency in Spanish and English is required. Evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarship as well as a solid commitment to undergraduate education is essential. Teaching load is five academic courses per year. We are a department of ten colleagues, including visiting faculty, on a campus where student interest in the Spanish language and in Hispanic/Latino literatures and cultures is very high. In addition to teaching and research in our individual areas of intellectual expertise, we share the teaching of first and second-year language courses.
